The following is a reply by CSETI to a particularly nasty piece of disinformation disseminated by Zetatalk@aol.com and posted on AOL and WWW sites.

**This statement is entirely false and radically misleading. There is no possible justification for it. If you believe you have any evidence whatsoever to support such an utterly absurd accusation, please lay it on the table or immediately cease and desist from making these kinds of allegations.

<<Under the guise of seeking contact with extraterrestrials, and supposedly succeeding, they hope to accomplish the following objectives:>>

<<Denying the existence of MJ12.>>

** This statement shows a complete lack of knowledge of CSETI’s views. Anyone who has taken the time to learn what we are about knows that we absolutely believe that the group formerly named MJ-12 did/does indeed exist.

<<While not directly addressing MJ12 they are suggesting that the leadership should develop contact with extraterrestrials. This gives the impression to their readership that this contact doesn’t currently exist.>>

**Nothing could be further from the truth. We have information from our own sources, within and without, who absolutely confirm that contact has been made, and was made decades ago—and that the evidence and records of such contact have been played like a shell game.

** This is precisely CSETI’s own understanding and philosophy. How can you possibly claim to be an authority on CSETI and not know this?

<<By asserting that they achieve success at certain settings and by certain rituals, they are giving their readership the impression that they succeed where others have failed. The opposite is true.>>

** This is absolute and total hogwash. I personally have had conscious, wide-awake contact for decades, as has CSETI’s founder, Steven Greer, M.D.. Certain "settings" and "rituals" are not and have never been a prerequisite for contact in any of CSETI’s materials. Our protocols, such as they are, have evolved experimentally on the basis of our experience, and that is all. CSETI’s numerous published reports, online presence, public talks, and corroborating witnesses’ testimony support CSETI’s successes and entirely discount this false statement.

CSETI’s goal is not the furtherance of individual contact experienced alone in the dark of night in one’s bedroom or anywhere else. Evidence of contact will advance when groups of teams consciously and deliberately put out the call and experiment in good faith with whatever protocols seem to advance the process of extraterrestrial/human intercommunication. Individual experiences, on the other hand, can be subject to personal delusion and to external manipulation, and (as in the case of this ZetaTalk material) cannot be independently verified. Some of what appears in ZetaTalk seems plausible *in principle* -- but mere plausibility has nothing to do with truth one way or the other. Indeed, plausibility is as much of a foundation-stone of *disinformation* as it is of *true* information.

** CSETI has succeeded, in multiple events, with multiple witnesses, in several countries and many states of the US. True contact is contact that is witnessed by people who are logical, cogent, and in control of their faculties. Contrast that with material produced by invisible sources that must be taken on faith alone. Perhaps it is different in Zeta-land, but on this planet insistence upon faith and resistance to sincere questioning is a sure sign of manipulation and deception.

The above ZetaTalk statement, and others by ZetaTalk quoted in this message, are libellous. CSETI will not tolerate false and misleading statements made by those who have absolutely no knowledge or understanding of what it is, what it does, and what its results have been. CSETI will also take up the matter of posting libellous statements with the officials of any Internet services being used to disseminate them.

***Of course *transformation* efforts bypass the establishment. Which is precisely why CSETI is a broadly-based, civilian, *citizens’* group. If CSETI were founded by the "establishment," CSETI would have, among other things, funding to do the critical work that is so urgently needed at this time—the work of informing the world in a logical and sane manner about the reality of extraterrestrial civilisations interacting with this world and its inhabitants, and bringing forth the best available evidence and testimony. I can assure you I would not be doing temporary legal work to support my modest needs if CSETI were an arm of the establishment.

In light of the substance and character of some of the statements posted publicly by the publisher of ZetaTalk, I am compelled to ask:

Could ZetaTalk itself be some sort of "MJ-12" operation? Could its "channel" and publisher be unwittingly (or deliberately) propagating sophisticated but disinformative messages and impressions transmitted by psychoelectronic or other means? We know that such operations are not beyond the capacity of our "deep-black" intelligence operations. This is not to accuse, but merely to ask that such possibilities be *considered,* very soberly and very honestly, by yourself any by anyone else reading this message.
